Hydrangea Happiness

W

Unbelievable! Look at these little lovelies straight from my side-sheltered garden. I had the most beautiful blue hydrangeas at the Atlanta house—they were over twenty-five years old and bloomed prolifically. I wanted to try to duplicate them here in Cashiers, but everyone said they wouldn’t grow here. They didn’t bloom for two years, but then WOW did they ever bloom this year! Wish me luck for next year’s blooms—and try something no one else thinks will work in your garden. Go for it!

Blue hydrangeas
Wow—I never get tired of these blue beauties.

Holy Hydrangias is right! So true…
Could you tell me what kind of light you planted them in, the amount of water you used and how you pruned them to blossom. I am in Florida and would love to try planting them!

    Thank you,
    Susan

  2. Lissy, We have a hydrangea bush at our home in Cashiers, but it hasn’t bloomed since we bought the house. Please tell me how you cared for your blue beauties! Thank you, Debbie

  3. Holy Cow those are gorgeous!! Our soil in CA is too alkaline for “blue” hydrangeas so we have to settle for white and pink. For some reason mine are magnificent this year as well. Apparently neglect suits them well!!
